Candidate projects for improving Cranberry’s roads – including new turning lanes, traffic signals, alignments, roundabouts, connectors, shoulders, and more – are identified through a roadway sufficiency analysis. The results of that engineering study, which looks to the future as well as at current traffic circulation issues, form the basis of the Township’s capital improvements plan – a prioritized list of transportation projects financed, at least in part, by the impact fees assessed on new development in Cranberry. Cranberry’s most recent capital improvements plan update was adopted in 2010, and a number of the projects it identified have since been built. Accordingly, at its October 2 meeting, Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors approved a motion retaining the engineering firm Herbert, Rowland & Grubic to update the plan and identify improvements needed over the next five years.
