Officer Michael Weleski has been named one of two recipients of the Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Police Officer of the Year award - a statewide honor recognizing his leadership and innovation in improving law enforcement responses to mental health crises.
Officer Weleski received the award during the Statewide CIT Conference held in State College last month.
As a CIT coordinator, trainer, and mentor, Officer Weleski has played a crucial role in expanding crisis-intervention efforts across Butler County and surrounding areas. His work - from developing a behavioral health database to launching officer wellness initiatives - continues to strengthen community trust and support both officers and residents.
The Board of Supervisors recognized Weleski for winning this award during the November 20 meeting.
