During the March 6 Board of Supervisors meeting, the Board proclaimed April 2025 as Pennsylvania 811 Safe Digging Month.
Pennsylvania 811 is a utility notification information center available to residents and contractors to prevent incidents during digging. When contacted at least three business days before digging, the 811 program notifies the appropriate underground utility operators in the municipality where the work will be performed. Crews then mark the approximate location of the underground lines with flags and paint to ensure a safe project.
