Applicants for the 2026 internship program must be enrolled in an educational institution. Students seeking an Associates, Bachelors, or Masters degree in a relevant major preferred.

Communications

The Communications Department keeps the community informed and connected. The Department uses a variety of media to inform residents and businesses of urgent news, as well as to promote Township events and programs. Duties for this position include, but are not limited to, event planning and coordinating, graphic design, media outreach, and photography. Space limitations due to Municipal Center renovations may eliminate this position opportunity. Confirmation will be provided during interviews.

Engineering & Environmental Services

Engineering & Environmental Services oversees projects dealing with infrastructure, including storm and sanitary sewers, water production, and other high-quality technical services. The department also ensures the Township is compliant with environmental rules and regulations. Duties include, but are not limited to, stormwater projects and on site visits, research on best practices, data entry, assisting with safety initiatives and coordination during Municipal Center Renovations.

Finance

The Finance department is responsible for ensuring Township-wide financial stability and accountability through timely and accurate reporting, efficient use of sound business practices, and a dedication to outstanding customer service. Duties for this position include, but are not limited to, reconciliation of audited financial statements, data entry, research on best practices, and writing a user guide for the Township’s finance and information software system.

Fire & Emergency Services

The Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company provides fire and rescue services to Cranberry Township. The organization also works to maintain a healthy and safe community via outreach efforts, educational services, state-of-the-art training, and partnerships made within the community. Duties for this position include, but are not limited to, supporting the Knox Box program and EMA, creating facility preplans, and overseeing the Cadet Academy.

Parks & Recreation Stewardship & Event Planning and Parks & Recreation Aquatics

The Parks and Recreation Department oversees and manages recreational and educational programming throughout the Township. Programs include athletic leagues, Camp Cranberry, aquatic programs at the Cranberry Township Waterpark, CTCC Community Days, and more. Duties for this position include, but are not limited to, coordinating daily programs and operations, event planning, and providing customer service.

Planning & Development Services

Planning & Development Services manages sustainable development in Cranberry Township with the goal of enhancing the physical environment and improving the quality of life for all residents, commercial enterprises, and visitors. Duties for this position include, but are not limited to, attending community and commission meetings, data entry, supporting land development reviews and applications procedures, and research on best practices. Space limitations due to Municipal Center renovations may eliminate this position opportunity. Confirmation will be provided during interviews.

Police Public Safety and Police Social Services

The Cranberry Township Police Department is responsible for maintaining peace and order in the community. The Department has an active role in the community, providing resources such as educational programs, crime statistics and analysis. The duties for the position include, but are not limited to, providing support in investigations, assisting the patrol and traffic divisions, ensuring safe community relations during summer events, attend hearings, participate in booking procedures, and special projects as assigned. Space limitations due to Municipal Center renovations may eliminate this position opportunity. Confirmation will be provided during interviews.

Public Works

The Public Works Department oversees the installation, maintenance, and inspection of Township roads and traffic signals, parks, and Township-owned facilities including Cranberry Highlands Golf Course and Brush Creek Treatment Plant. Duties for this position include, but are not limited to, workflow documentation, asset management, field work, and assisting with capital projects.

Safety

The Safety Coordinator develops, coordinates, and implements safety policies and procedures to promote and ensure safe operations in the Township. Duties for this position include, but are not limited to, updating the Township Safety Manual, participating in safety operational planning, performing onsite safety visits and scheduled inspections, and coordinating safety protocol for summer events.
